Adrian Beltre homers, but Mariners still lose sixth in a row
May 9, 2009 (The Seattle Times delivered by Newstex ) --

There will be talk after this game about Adrian Beltre finally showing signs of life. Beltre went deep in the eighth inning -- his first home run of 2009 -- while also notching an RBI double and a single in this game. The Mariners scored six runs, which is more than they'd managed their previous four games combined.

But they still lost. And now, after going down 9-6 here to the Minnesota Twins, their losing streak has hit six. They just used up a Felix Hernandez start, and not a good one at that.

So, yes, there were postiive signs tonight. But there were also mistakes, in the field and at the plate. And frankly, winning is what matters in this game. The Mariners have to put it all together at some point. they are now sub-.500 for the first time since beginning the season here at 1-2.
