The new Nashville pitching coach will be Chris Bosio, who pitched for the Brewers from 1986-'92 before moving on to Seattle and throwing a no-hitter there. He replaces Stan Kyles, who was elevated to the Brewers' staff as bullpen coach.
Bosio was the pitching coach for Cincinnati's Class AA Chattanooga affiliate last season. He was Tampa Bay's pitching coach in 2003 before going on to coach at UW-Oshkosh and Lawrence University.
The Brewers announced the rest of their minor-league staff for 2009. Hitting coach Sandy Guerrero will move up with Money from Huntsville to join the Nashville staff. Trainer Jeff Paxson and strength coach Tom Reynolds remain with the Sounds.
The new manager at Huntsville is Bob Miscik, who most recently served as Cincinnati's minor-league field coordinator in 2005. Miscik has extensive minor-league managing experience with Baltimore and worked in Texas' player development department as well.
Joining Miscik on the Huntsville staff is pitching coach John Curtis and coach Jim Lett. Curtis spent the past four seasons as the pitching coach at Class A West Virginia, and Lett coached on that staff in 2008 as well.
The staff at high Class A Brevard County returns intact with manager Mike Guerrero, pitching coach Fred Dabney and hitting coach Corey Hart.
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Brewers' new low Class A affiliate in Appleton, will be managed by Jeff Isom, who managed last season at West Virginia. His pitching coach will be Chris Hook, who was at Huntsville last year, and Appleton native Matt Erickson, who played briefly with the Brewers in 2004, will be a coach on that staff.
In rookie ball, Rene Gonzales returns as manager in Helena and Tony Diggs is back to manage in Arizona. Ned Yost IV returns to the Helena coaching staff, with a pitching coach to be named later. Pitching coaches Steve Cline and Jose Nu?ez return to the Arizona staff, with Kenny Dominguez also serving as a coach.
In other moves, Lee Tunnell was named minor-league pitching coordinator, replacing Jim Rooney, who joined the scouting department. Charlie Greene is back as field coordinator and catching instructor, as are hitting coordinator Mike Lum, infield instructor Garth Iorg and outfield and base-running instructor Ken Berry.
Iorg served as the Brewers' third-base coach at the end of the 2008 season after Ned Yost was fired and Dale Sveum took over as interim manager.
Seattle signs Branyan: With former Brewers scouting director Jack Zduriencik now the general manager in Seattle, it won't be surprising if players with Milwaukee backgrounds are signed by the Mariners.
The first was third baseman Russell Branyan, who signed a one-year, $1.4 million deal Monday. Branyan played in 50 games for the Brewers last season, batting .250 with 12 home runs and 20 RBI.
Branyan, who will be 33 in a couple of weeks, missed most of the final month and a half with a ribcage injury.
Clubhouse sale: The Brewers will hold their annual clubhouse sale Friday-Sunday. The sale will take place in Miller Park's visiting clubhouse from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Shoppers can access the sale by entering the ballpark at the Hot Corner near Friday's Front Row and following the posted directions to the visiting clubhouse. Cash and credit cards will be accepted; checks will not.
Brewers Charities and FSN Wisconsin are hosting a toy drive at the clubhouse sale to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee. The first 500 people donating a toy in the $10-$15 price range for children, ages 6-18, will receive two tickets to the April 13 game against Cincinnati.
DVDs coming: The Brewers' 2008 highlight DVD, titled "First in a Lifetime," will be available beginning Dec. 15. Fans can redeem their vouchers for the DVD, narrated by Bob Uecker, at the relocated merchandise store in the former "Big League Blast" space at Miller Park. The regular FanZone store is being renovated this winter.
