--LHP Jarrod Washburn came out of Monday's game in the seventh inning with a touch of tightness in his right calf muscle. Washburn said he's had the problem before and he hopes he won't miss any time. For the first six innings, it was the best start of the season for Washburn, who allowed one hit and hit a batter.
--1B Greg Norton, who was designated for assignment on April 30, was traded to Atlanta for a player to be named later or cash. Norton, a switch-hitter who had trouble getting playing time with the Mariners, hit .438 in limited at-bats for them. --RF Wladimir Balentien hit his second homer in six days, both times a three-run shot. Monday's homer off RHP Kevin Millwood of the Rangers capped a four-run third inning and came with Balentien hitting just .167. "I tried to do too much when I was first called up," Balentien said. "(On Monday) I was able to look for my pitch and go after it."
--LF Raul Ibanez has a season-best seven-game hitting streak after getting a couple of doubles Monday. He is hitting .333 (10-for-30) during the seven games.
--3B coach Sammy Perlozzo is due to have arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday. He may miss Tuesday's game. In recent days, first-base coach Eddie Rodriguez has coached third and bench coach Jim Riggleman has coached first.
