The deal is expected to be in the $2 million to $3 million range. Griffey signed a one-year, $2 million deal with the Mariners, plus incentives.

Anderson, 36, is moving to the National League after spending 15 seasons with the Angels. He will fill the same role that the Braves intended for Griffey, platooning with Matt Diaz in the left field.

The Angels chose not to re-sign Anderson after he batted .293 last season with 15 home runs, 84 RBIs and a .758 on-base/slugging percentage. His numbers were slightly better against right-handers, and he performed better after the All-Star break, batting .335 with an .856 OPS.

The Mariners also had been interested in Anderson before signing Griffey. The Angels replaced Anderson by signing free-agent outfielder Bobby Abreu for $5 million.

For his career, Anderson is a .296 hitter with a .327 on-base percentage, .469 slugging percentage and 272 home runs.
