Right-hander Felix Hernandez, right-hander Miguel Batista and Bedard have combined to allow just four runs (three earned) in the first seven innings of the last three games.
"This is the kind of thing we were looking for back in spring training," manager John McLaren said. "You like to get seven innings from the starter, then one inning each from (Brandon) Morrow and (J.J.) Putz."
MARINERS 1, RED SOX 0: Erik Bedard continued his impressive pitching in Safeco Field, allowing two hits in seven innings as the Mariners recorded their first 1-0 win since Aug. 9, 2005.
Bedard threw seven innings in which he walked three and struck out eight, then turned the ball over to Brandon Morrow and J.J. Putz to close it out.
The only run came from shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt, who picked on a knuckleball from Tim Wakefield and lined it into the left field bullpen in the third inning.
