The Mariners and the White Sox now have a doubleheader Tuesday in U.S. Cellular Field, so Monday's rainout in Chicago will provide a little help, particularly in the bullpen.
And the club has another day off Thursday, so the pitching staff shouldn't get two fried by having the doubleheader thrust upon them.
The closer, righty Brandon Morrow, has not pitched since Thursday because he's come down with some pain in his right shoulder.
He was probably good to go Monday if the game had been played, but the extra day could well help.
Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu said the day off will help his bullpen as a whole, with the starters having gone just five and 5 1/3 innings the last two days in Anaheim.
Wakamatsu said he will keep his original starting pitching order, with righty Chris Jakubauskas throwing in the opener and righty Felix Hernandez throwing in the nightcap Tuesday.
The White Sox, meanwhile, have made a slight change, moving lefty John Danks moved back to Game 2 with righty Bartolo Colon pitching in the opener.
MARINERS, WHITE SOX (PPD): Monday's game was postponed due to rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Tuesday.
