--DH Jose Vidro, who had not hit third all season, doubled and singled in his first two at-bats when he got the chance Friday night. He has spent more time batting third than anywhere but batting second, and he has a .287 career average as a No. 3 hitter.
--3B Adrian Beltre had hits in his first three at-bats Friday. It's the third time in four games that Beltre has had multiple hits. He moved into the No.5 spot in the batting order after having been there just six times in the first 48 games of the season.
--CF Ichiro Suzuki was rung up on called third strikes in the first and second innings Friday by umpire Mike DiMuro. Ichiro hung around to argue his case a little the first time and longer the second. Manager John McLaren came out to protect his center fielder and wound up being ejected himself, although Ichiro was not.
--LHP Erik Bedard's ERA after giving up nine runs in 4 1/3 innings Friday soared from 3.24 to 4.70. That's higher than any season in his career, not counting 2002 when he debuted at 13.50 in two games.
BY THE NUMBERS: 2.10. The composite ERA of the Seattle bullpen in May through Sunday (14 ER in 60 innings).
QUOTE TO NOTE: "You try to make out the lineup so that the other manager will have decisions to make. But when four or five guys are struggling, it's hard to do that." - manager John McLaren.
