--LHP Ryan Feierabend is out for the season after having Tommy John ligament replacement surgery on his left elbow March 3. Although the physician, Dr. Lewis Yocum, said the surgery went well, the standard recovery time is 12-14 months.
--RHP Brandon Morrow will miss his start Saturday because of stiffness in his right forearm and will be replaced by RHP Gabe Hernandez. "It's not like it's painful or anything, just tight," Morrow said. --LHP Jarrod Washburn hit Oakland 1B Jason Giambi with pitches both time he faced him Friday (March 6). "It was a two-seamer that ran in," he said. "It ran in a little too much." Then Washburn laughed. "Jason and I are friends," he said. "But maybe he won't be as comfortable batting against me the rest of the year."
--3B Matt Tuiasosopo is the hot hitter in the early going for Seattle. With a double in one at-bat Friday against Oakland, he's 8-for-15 as he bids to break camp as a big-leaguer for the first time.
--3B Adrian Beltre won't be playing for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic, even after Dominican 3B Alex Rodriguez had to pull out because of a hip surgery. The Mariners don't want Beltre playing in the WBC because of the surgeries (left thumb, left shoulder) he's coming back from.
