--SS Carlos Triunfel, one of the top few prospects in Seattle's minor league system, will miss between four and six months after undergoing surgery Wednesday. Triunfel was playing with Class AA West Tenn when he was hurt sliding into second base Friday. He suffered ligament damage in his ankle and a fractured left fibula. The operation on the left ankle allowed the surgeons to better line up the broken fibula, which the medical corps say should help the healing process.
--LHP Jarrod Washburn, who started the season with eight shutout innings against Minnesota on April 9, extended his streak to 12 innings by setting the first 12 Angels down in order to start Wednesday's game. DH Vladimir Guerrero ended the no-hitter with a single, and CF Torii Hunter ended the shutout streak with a two-run homer. However, Washburn got the win, the 100th of his career, after six innings in which he allowed just the two runs.
BY THE NUMBERS: 6 -- Consecutive wins by Seattle over Oakland dating back to last season.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "My friends and my wife, who was at the game, were more amped up than I was." -- RHP Shawn Kelley, on appearing in his first big-league game April 10 against Oakland. He pitched a scoreless inning.
