Marinershome.com | Seattle Mariners News, mariners Scores, Game Recaps & Commentary - --DH Ken Griffey Jr. and RF Ichiro Suzuki both were honored by the Mariners in pregame ceremonies Wednesday. Griffey was honored for having hit his 400th homer as a Mariner earlier in the homestand, while Ichiro was lauded for having broken the all-time Japanese hits record with his 3,086th. Both were given framed pictures of the moment.
--RHP Sean White gave up a run for the first time this season while pitching in relief Wednesday. The run was unearned, however, so he, RHP David Aardsma and RHP Shawn Kelley still all own 0.00 ERAs coming into Thursday's series finale against Tampa Bay. Aardsma and Kelley have yet to allow a run of any sort. --C Rob Johnson collected Seattle's first triple of the season in the fourth inning Tuesday, a hit that came after 435 at-bats. It took exactly two at-bats for Seattle to get its second triple; Johnson scored on SS Yuniesky Betancourt's subsequent three-base hit. The Indians are now the only AL team without a triple.
BY THE NUMBERS: 3 -- Wild pitches thrown by the Mariners Sunday. That's one shy of the club record. RHP Carlos Silva, RHP Mark Lowe and RHP Shawn Kelley each threw one.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "He just keeps getting better and better." -- Manager Don Wakamatsu on LHP Erik Bedard.
