--LF Endy Chavez got the word via text message Monday that he's received his green card, granting him permanent residency in the U.S. Chavez, from Venezuela. He got a round of cheers from his teammates Monday afternoon after word got out.
--1B Russell Branyan, back in the lineup after having missed five games with back troubles, returned in style. He went 5-for-8 in his first two games back with a double, two homers and six RBIs combined Friday and Saturday. Branyan was in the lineup again Sunday, but it was a game time decision whether or not his back was going to allow him to play. He originally hurt his back a week ago, and both on Friday and Saturday had slides while running the bases that had the Mariners holding their breath. He played but went 0-for-4.
--Seven different Mariners have batted seventh for the club in the first 18 games of the season -- OF Wladimir Balentien, 1B Russell Branyan, C Jamie Burke, CF Franklin Gutierrez, C Rob Johnson and 2B Jose Lopez.
