--RHP Chris Jakubauskas' two-hit complete game was the 39th of two or fewer hits by a Seattle pitcher in club history, the first since RHP Felix Hernandez threw a one-hitter on April 11, 2007. Jakubauskas' loss was the first by a big-leaguer throwing a two-hitter since Carlos Zambrano of the Cubs lost to the Padres on June 16, 2007. It was just the third two-hit loss in Seattle history, the others being LHP Mark Langston (Sept. 13, 1987) and LHP Glenn Abbott (Sept. 1, 1981).

--C Kenji Johjima got a couple of at-bats in an extended spring training game in Peoria, Ariz. He's due to stay in Arizona through Thursday, then come off the disabled list Friday in Seattle against Oakland after a bout with a right hamstring injury.

--LF Endy Chavez got the word via text message Monday that he's received his green card, granting him permanent residency in the United States. Chavez, from Venezuela. He got a round of cheers from his teammates Monday afternoon after word got out.

BY THE NUMBERS: 7 -- Consecutive series in Anaheim the Mariners had lost before taking this weekend's series from the Angels. The last winning series for the Mariners in Anaheim was June 9-11, 2006.
