Seattle Mariners Notes, Quotes 2009-05-01
--LF Endy Chavez got his first day off of the year Wednesday in the series finale in Chicago. He figures to be back in the starting lineup Friday against Oakland.

--RHP Felix Hernandez is working on a streak of 19 consecutive scoreless innings. That's still far away from the club record, held by LHP Mark Langston, who had 34 innings without allowing a run in 1988.

--C Rob Johnson threw out two runners trying to steal second base in the same inning Wednesday. First, he got White Sox CF Brian Anderson, and moments later he nailed SS Alexi Ramirez.

--RHP Chris Jakubauskas' two-hit complete game Tuesday was the 39th of two or fewer hits by a Seattle pitcher in club history, the first since RHP Felix Hernandez threw a one-hitter on April 11, 2007. Jakubauskas' loss was the first by a big-leaguer throwing a two-hitter since Carlos Zambrano of the Cubs lost to the Padres on June 16, 2007. It was just the third two-hit loss in Seattle history, the others being LHP Mark Langston (Sept. 13, 1987) and LHP Glenn Abbott (Sept. 1, 1981).

BY THE NUMBERS: 7 -- Consecutive series in Anaheim the Mariners had lost before taking this weekend's series from the Angels. The last winning series for the Mariners in Anaheim was June 9-11, 2006.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "The way they're playing, I just want to feel I'm doing my part to help us win." -- RHP Carlos Silva after Saturday's first win of the season.
