--RHP Brandon Morrow was surprised to be told he was going on the disabled list Saturday and argued against it, but lost. The Mariners want to make sure their closer's biceps tendinitis is completely cleared before he throws in another game. He could be back on Saturday because the move to the DL was made retroactively. He threw a bullpen session Sunday and came out of it saying he felt good.
--RHP Denny Stark, promoted from the minor leagues on Saturday, pitched in Sunday's game, getting two outs in the seventh inning. It was the first game in the big leagues for Stark since 2005. He'd undergone two Tommy John surgeries on his right elbow since then and went more than 2-1/2 years without pitching in a game of any sort. --SS Yuniesky Betancourt has yet to draw a walk in 86 plate appearances going into Sunday. That's tied with San Francisco's Bengie Molina for the most in the big leagues.
--LHP Ryan Rowland-Smith, on the DL with left triceps tendinitis, will throw a bullpen session Monday, then pitch a simulated game sometime during the Texas series on the road before being sent out on an injury rehabilitation assignment.
--INF Ronny Cedeno, held out of games the last week because of hamstring troubles, is back to 100 percent and could get a start in the next day or two, manager Don Wakamatsu said.
