--RHP Sean Green led the league for most of the year in games pitched, but he got a week off this month after he began to feel signs of a dead arm. He's feeling better now and he's pitched in 56 games, which ranks second in the AL this season.
--LHP Jarrod Washburn apparently will be staying with the Mariners. There had been suggestions out of Chicago that the injury-hampered White Sox might have been interested in trading for Washburn, but the Sox are now saying they'll fill from within the organization. Washburn's contract might have been a disincentive; he's due to make $10.35 million next season.
--2B Jose Lopez was back in the lineup Tuesday after having been removed from Sunday's game for a pinch hitter after making an error. Manager Jim Riggleman wouldn't say Sunday the move was a reaction to the error, but before Tuesday's game he said he was in fact trying to send a message to the entire club.
BY THE NUMBERS: 17 -- Consecutive days with games played for the Mariners through Sunday. Seattle gets Monday off before starting a two-game series against the Angels in Anaheim.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I would like to get to 100 wins before I get to 100 losses. I know I'm getting closer to the wins being the same as losses, and when I got here, it wasn't anywhere close." -- LHP Jarrod Washburn, who comes into the week 98-97 after three consecutive losing seasons with the Mariners.
