Seattle Mariners Notes, Quotes 2008-08-21
--RHP Felix Hernandez, who took a line drive off his left foot in his start Tuesday, was walking around without noticeable pain Wednesday, and he's expected to be able to make his next start Sunday against Oakland. "You'd rather have a hit like that than a twist or a sprain," manager Jim Riggleman said. "When you're hit like that, you know the pain will go away eventually."

--LF Raul Ibanez had a great offensive road trip even as the Mariners went 1-7. Ibanez went 19-for-34 (.559) on the trip. He had all three of Seattle's RBIs in Chicago, including hitting his 20th homer, and he drove in seven runs in the eight games.

--RF Ichiro Suzuki turned in his 14th three-hit game of the season. He now has 11 hits in the past five games, including a pair of three-hit games, to push his average to a season's best .312.

--RHP R.A. Dickey, who was moved out of the rotation last week but was moved back in because of an injury to RHP Carlos Silva, lasted just two innings and gave up eight runs in Chicago. He's allowed eight runs in each of his last two starts and three times in his last five starts.

--LHP Erik Bedard probably won't throw off a mound in the bullpen this weekend as previously planned, and if the health of his left shoulder doesn't improve, there is a chance he might not pitch again this season, although the Mariners continue to hope he will. "I'd look at it as gravy if he does (pitch again in 2008)," manager Jim Riggleman said. "I'd love for him to pitch. I'd like to have him feel good about how he's pitching going into the offseason."

BY THE NUMBERS: 3 -- The Mariners scored three runs Friday, all without the benefit of an RBI. It was only the second time in club history the team had scored three or more runs without the benefit of an RBI. Two runs scored on a Twins' throwing error and the other on a double play grounder.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "There's been five weeks' worth of games just like that." -- Manager Jim Riggleman, after Saturday's bottom-of-the-ninth loss to Minnesota.
