--LHP Erik Bedard resumed his throwing program Friday as he comes back from tightness in his left shoulder. He made 40 throws from 75-80 feet off flat ground after taking four days off when discomfort returned to the shoulder. Bedard has been on the DL since July 4 and it's looking likely that he won't pitch again this season. "There's going to be some good days and some bad days," manager Jim Riggleman said. "Today was a good day."
--RF Ichiro Suzuki's 1-for-4 game gave him a major league-best 170 hits and put him on pace for 215 hits this season. He's had at least 200 hits in each of his seven major league seasons. --2B Jose Lopez's two RBIs gave him 69 this season, ranking him second among AL second basemen behind Texas' now-injured Ian Kinsler, who has 71.
--LHP Ryan Feierabend, who gave up 10 hits and six runs in three innings while pitching on three days of rest Sunday at Minnesota, was much sharper on his fifth day Friday. He gave up five hits and a run in five innings, and his five strikeouts tied a career high.
--SS Yuniesky Betancourt, the No. 9 hitter most of this season, batted second for the first time and went 2-for-5. He's batting .370 in his past 12 games, six of them multi-hit games.
BY THE NUMBERS: 3 -- The Mariners scored three runs Friday, all without the benefit of an RBI. It was only the second time in club history the team had scored three or more runs without the benefit of an RBI. Two runs scored on a Twins' throwing error and the other on a double play grounder.
