--RF Ichiro Suzuki has reached 40 steals for the third time in his career. He had 56 in his 2001 MVP season and 45 in 2006. He also had 49 steals for Orix when playing in Japan in 1995.
--RHP Carlos Silva will be activated from the disabled list (biceps tendinitis in the right elbow) on Monday and is scheduled to start against the Rangers in Texas. Silva last pitched on Aug. 15 and hasn't won since June 28. --LF Raul Ibanez finished up a huge month of August Sunday with a single, a walk, a run scored and an RBI. For the Month, Ibanez hit .397 (44-for-111) with seven homers. His 31 RBIs matches his career best for a single month.
--RF Ichiro Suzuki's quest for an eighth consecutive 200-hit season has picked up in the month of August. He went 43-for-122 (.352) for the month and now has 179 hits for the season. At his current pace, he will finish with 213 hits after having a sub-200 pace mid-season.
--RHP Randy Messenger and RHP Roy Corcoran both collected saves this week, giving Seattle nine different pitchers with a save this year, a new Mariner record and the big-league lead. The list: RHP Brandon Morrow (10); RHP J.J. Putz (9); LHP Ryan Rowland-Smith and Corcoran (2 each); and RHP Miguel Batista, RHP Mark Lowe, LHP Arthur Rhodes, LHP Jarrod Washburn and Messenger (one each).
--3B Adrian Beltre's two-homer game Sunday was his third of the season. He has 19 multiple homer games for his career.
BY THE NUMBERS: 8 -- The number of consecutive "quality starts" for the Mariners' starting rotation. That's the best Seattle streak of the season. It's the longest stretch of quality starts since 10 consecutive from Sept. 4-14, 2003.
