--RHP Sean White was sent back to Seattle on Sunday morning to have the persistent pain in his right shoulder checked out. The Mariners are hoping that White, who has been the No. 3 man in the bullpen for most of the year, will be able to pitch again this year, but until the medics check him out, they won't know. --CF Franklin Gutierrez dropped down a sacrifice bunt to set up the Mariners' first run in the first inning. It was the 12th sacrifice for Gutierrez, the most in the AL this year. --RHP Shawn Kelley has faced a bases-loaded situation four times this year. Opposing hitters are 3-for-4 against him in those spots with two home runs, including one by Oakland DH Scott Hairston Sunday.
--2B Jose Lopez's RBI single in the first inning Sunday gave him 84 RBIs for the season. That's just five shy of his career record of 89 set in 2008. He homered both Friday and Saturday and has 21 homers, a career best.
--DH Ken Griffey Jr.'s left knee inflammation has continued longer than the Mariners had thought it would. For now, the plans are for him to play Wednesday in Anaheim, but that remains tentative.
BY THE NUMBERS: 33 of 34. The Mariners are off Monday after having played on 33 of the previous 34 days (they flew from Seattle to Detroit on the one off day). Seattle was 18-15 in that stretch.

MEDICAL WATCH:
DH Ken Griffey Jr. (sore knees) did not play Aug. 29-Sept. 2. He returned to the lineup Sept. 3 but hyperextended his left knee. He was a late scratch Sept. 4. He appeared as a pinch hitter Sept. 5. He missed the Sept. 6 game and is tentatively scheduled to return to the lineup Sept. 9.
RHP Carlos Silva (right shoulder inflammation) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 7, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on June 18. An MRI on May 18 showed an internal impingement in the shoulder. He began a rehab assignment with short-season Class A Everett on Sept. 1.
1B Russell Branyan (herniated disk in back) went on the 15-day disabled list Aug. 29. He might be out for the season.
LHP Cesar Jimenez (left biceps tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 29, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on May 26. He began a rehab assignment with Class AAA Tacoma in late April but was shut down in early May. He started a new rehab assignment with Tacoma on July 8, but he hasn't pitched since July 16.
LHP Ryan Feierabend (Tommy John elbow surgery in March 2009) went on the 60-day disabled list March 16.
LHP Erik Bedard (torn left labrum and inflamed bursa) went on the 15-day disabled list July 26, and he was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on Aug. 19. He experienced discomfort after an Aug. 4 throwing session and underwent season-ending surgery Aug. 14. He will be able to resume throwing in four to six months.
OF Endy Chavez (torn right knee ligaments) went on the 60-day disabled list June 20. He underwent season-ending surgery July 9.
RHP Chad Cordero (right shoulder surgery in July 2008) signed a minor league deal with the Mariners during the spring, and he wasn't ready for opening day. He still hadn't regained his velocity by mid-July.
