--LHP Ryan Rowland-Smith has been diagnosed as having some fluid on his left elbow, and as a result it's extremely unlikely that he'll be able to come off the disabled list on April 26 as previously planned. "I still don't have the kind of range of motion that I'd like," Rowland-Smith said. "But hopefully I won't be out too much longer."

--2B Jose Lopez's three-run homer in the fifth inning was the first hit of the night for Seattle against Tampa Bay rookie Jeff Niemann. It was Lopez's second homer of the season, and it pushed his average to .208.

--1B Mike Sweeney, who has a history of back troubles, suffered a spasm after a second-inning check swing and had to come out of the game. Sweeney, who was helped off the field by trainer Rick Griffin and manager Don Wakamatsu, was replaced by INF Ronny Cedeno, who flied out. Cedeno then went to second base and 2B Jose Lopez moved to first. Sweeney will meet with team physician Edward Khalfayan before Thursday's series finale.

--1B Russell Branyan was given another day off Wednesday because of back issues. Branyan hasn't played in a game since Friday, but there is a chance he could play in Thursday's series finale against the Rays. "It seems like I have something like this every year," Branyan said. "It usually takes four or five days to clear up, and this is the fifth day."

1B Mike Sweeney (back spasm) left the April 22 game. He will be examined April 23.

1B Russell Branyan (sore back) left the April 17 game after sliding into home plate. He did not play April 18-22. He is day-to-day.

C Kenji Johjima (strained right hamstring) went on the 15-day disabled list April 16. He might start running in late April.

LHP Ryan Rowland-Smith (left triceps tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 11. He is unlikely to return when he is first eligible.

LHP Cesar Jimenez (biceps tendinitis) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 29.

LHP Ryan Feierabend (Tommy John elbow surgery in March 2009) went on the 60-day disabled list March 16.

LHP Tyler Johnson (left shoulder surgery in May 2008) started the season in the minors. He will pitch in extended spring training in late April.

RHP Chad Cordero (right shoulder surgery in July 2008) signed a minor league deal with the Mariners during the spring, and he wasn't ready for opening day. He will pitch in extended spring training in late April.
