Seattle Mariners Roster Report 2009-05-07

Seattle Mariners Roster Report 2009-05-07
--RHP Shawn Kelley was placed on the disabled list Wednesday morning with a strained left oblique. He's expected to miss as much as a month. To fill his spot on the roster, LHP Garrett Olson was promoted from Class AAA Tacoma. Olson was scheduled to start Tuesday for Tacoma, but that start was scratched after Kelley's injury. Olson was 2-2 with a 3.08 ERA in five starts for Tacoma.

--LHP Ryan Rowland-Smith (left triceps strain) will throw a bullpen session Thursday. If he comes through that successfully, he will get a simulated game -- probably two innings -- next week in Texas and then be evaluated for the start of a rehabilitation assignment.

--2B Jose Lopez was moved into the third spot in the batting order for Wednesday's game in Kansas City for the first time this season. He had a single and a double, extending his hitting streak to seven games. He also scored Seattle's only run.

--DH Ken Griffey Jr. returned to the lineup Wednesday after missing a couple of starts thanks to diverticulitis. He was moved from third to sixth in the batting order because of a .190 average, but he doubled in his first at-bat and also drew a walk.
